“Sometimes I just wanted to raise my hand and stop. But stop what? Maybe just growing up.”(Patti Smith: Just Kids)
Coming of Age is a photobook structured in five acts. The cinematic photographs are presented as film stills with subtitles. The text is quoting different books, personalities and songs that all speak about this certain feeling of coming of age, a transitional state in-between anxiety and audacity, melancholia and nonchalance, confusion and creation. This mental state is paired with the imagery of a sold-out world at the dawn of the apocalypse. Adolescent distance and distrust are becoming reasonable.
